Jun Kaneko

Jun Kaneko was born in Nagoya, Japan and began studying painting as a boy. He came to the United States to continue his studies in 1963, but was drawn to ceramics. After studying with the leading American ceramic artists of the 1960s, he taught at major art schools before establishing a studio in Omaha, Nebraska in 1986. He made his first dango (Japanese word meaning “dumpling” or “rounded form”) shortly after moving to Omaha, and it has become his most recognizable series of works.
