Sioux City photographer Dolie Thompson teaches photography and the history of photography at Morningside College. She earned her BA from Briar Cliff University and an MFA from Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia. She has exhibited work locally at the Sioux City Art Center, and at various galleries in the United States and Budapest.
Long interested in the still life, Thompson’s creative work examines the universality of memory. She muses that everyone has their own memories and that when you leave enough space in a photograph for the viewer to go in and discover their own memories, their own thoughts of what could be, that’s where memory and image come together.
