Youth Art Month is an annual, nation-wide observance celebrating art education for children and encourages public support for quality school art programs. Created in 1961, YAM began as Children’s Art Month for the purpose of emphasizing the value of all children participating in art.
The annual Youth Art Month Exhibition is just one of the many ways in which the Sioux City Art Center supports and encourages young artists to explore their creativity and ideas through the artmaking process. Through their art, these students are provided an opportunity to demonstrate ambitious efforts resulting in success that can open doors to endless possibilities in all areas of their lives. We thank their art teachers for their enormous dedication to their students’ artistic development and for their support of this community education project.
