Group Visits and Guided Tours
Get acquainted with the Art Center’s exhibitions, dive into interesting conversations, and find answers to your exhibition-related questions with an independent visit with your group or with a guided tour. The Art Center can offer general or specifically designed tours to meet your groups needs or interests. Independent group visits may be scheduled during regular Art Center hours. Guided tours are given during the hours of 10am-4pm on Tuesday-Thursday. Guided tours are kept to a maximum of 35 per group, including chaperones, to ensure valuable tours are given. The Art Center requests a 1:10 chaperone ratio. Guided tours last up to 45 minutes; shorter tours may be requested. Younger visitors may also be interested in spending time in our hands on gallery. Due to limited space this part of the visit is suitable for smaller groups with no tour or shorter tour given.
All ages are encouraged, and as always, admission to the Art Center is free.
Studio Art Experience
Enhance your experience at the Art Center with a Studio Art Experience at the Gilchrist Learning Center before or after your visit to the Art Center. Create a work-of-art as a souvenir! Fees may apply and are based on group size, length of lesson, instructor needs, and materials required. Available options include:
- Instruction, materials, and clean-up provided by us! Arrangements will be made by your group leader and our Education staff to request an Art Center instructor and select a medium, theme, and focus for your group.
- We provide the studio space! Coming with your class? Invite your Art Educator to complete a lesson in our multi-functional studio. Bring your own supplies or make it easy and request supplies – we have a well-stocked inventory of art materials.

Visit Tips
Don’t Touch
Please refrain from touching the art. If you are with littles who learn through play, please visit our Hands On! Gallery on the 1st floor by the Visitors Desk.
Food and Drink
Food and drink is not allowed inside the galleries or Art Center. Please attend one of the Art Center’s events to enjoy food and drink, including water, in the atriums and lower levels only. Water Fountains are available by the restrooms in the northwest corner of the 1st and 2nd floors.
Bags
No backpacks or oversized bags allowed throughout the galleries. Please store all backpacks or oversized bags in one of our lockers, located on level 1 in the coat room. Purses are permitted.
Drawing/Sketching
Write or sketch with a pencil, but please do not use pens, markers, or other utensils in the galleries.
Photos
Non-flash photography is allowed in galleries and public spaces. You will see on the gallery door or object label if photography is not allowed. Professional photographers are permitted on the stairs or in the Atrium. No tripods or extra lighting stands are permitted.
Filming
Personal videography is allowed in the museum. The museum often photographs and films onsite programs for use on promotional materials. If you do not wish to be filmed or photographed, please inform a staff member.
No Smoking
The museum and Art Center ground is a smoke-free environment. Smoking/vaping is prohibited anywhere inside the museum buildings.
Safe Space
The museum is a safe space that welcomes everyone. Disruptive and disrespectful behavior will not be tolerated. Thank you for contributing to a positive experience for all at the museum.
